What earns the 8.1.
Five equally weighted research-led buying scores, not measured stunt performance, crash resistance, speed, runtime or customer stars.
Package completeness
8.5/10Radio, matched drive power and transmitter cells are supplied; a suitable USB input source still needs checking.
Control accessibility
8.5/10The SLT2 provides throttle limits and ordinary proportional adjustments, with LiPo responsibilities and age guidance retained.
Monster-truck equipment
8.5/10Solid axles, center spool, metal axle differentials, links and oil-filled shocks form a documented monster platform.
Body and service access
8.0/10The shark body and rubber fins are distinctive, and the twist-lock cage opens access; no impact-life advantage is asserted.
Complete-start value
7.0/10The dated USD249.99 reference includes power equipment, but the exact manufacturer listing is unavailable and venue limits matter.
Choose the monster-truck experience, not just the shark
The Mini LMT Megalodon is the small monster truck to consider when the shark body is the reason you want to go driving. Losi supplies a finished, licensed body over a genuine solid-axle four-wheel-drive platform, with radio and drive power equipment in the package. It is a different proposition from a decorative toy or a replacement shell. It is also a different proposition from a larger brushless basher bought primarily for covering rough ground quickly.
This review covers blue LOS01026T3. The manufacturer lists a 295mm length, 208mm width, 180mm height and 173mm wheelbase. Those dimensions make a compact course possible, but the body is still tall and the truck needs stopping and recovery space. Think about a clear dirt or paved area before imagining furniture-sized jumps. We have not driven it, established a safe landing height or measured how the molded body behaves in a rollover.
Our buying assessment comes from the exact Losi product page and Megalodon-specific manual. Greg Vogel's February 2025 RC Driver coverage identifies the actual T3 truck and shows his own running material; none of that becomes an RC Car King test result. There is also a current commercial caveat: Losi's page marks the model unavailable. Its listed USD reference is useful for context, but it is not evidence that you can order one there today.

A strong equipment basket with one USB check left
The standard box includes the assembled Megalodon, SLT2 transmitter, SX108 steering servo, a combined 25A ESC/receiver, 25T 380 brushed motor and an 810mAh 2S Smart G2 LiPo with IC2 connection. The S10 Smart G2 USB-C charger, cable, four AA transmitter cells and basic tools complete the documented contents. That is a useful reduction in first-car shopping decisions compared with a vehicle that leaves the drive battery and charging system to the buyer.
The remaining input-power question is easy to miss. The exact manual describes a compatible 5V USB source with at least 1A output for the supplied charger. The manufacturer's own completion illustration also identifies a USB power supply. Check what you actually have available rather than assuming that every old USB socket is adequate. Keep the supplied battery and charger together and follow their charging, inspection and storage instructions; inclusion does not remove supervision or battery-care responsibilities.
Age guidance matters more than the cheerful shark suggests. The manual recommends age 14+ and explains the need for adult supervision where appropriate. We would not describe it as an unattended young-child toy or rely on the marketing phrase “all ages” to override that document. A gift plan should include a responsible operator, a suitable charging location and a real driving venue. The attractive complete package helps with compatibility, not with automatically teaching those habits.

Solid axles and a center spool set the brief
Losi documents a solid-axle four-wheel-drive system with a center spool and geared front and rear differentials. A center spool couples the front and rear drive path; it is not an extra center differential with independent front/rear speed variation. The axle differentials perform a different job, allowing left and right wheel speeds to differ. That distinction explains the hardware without turning the words “4WD” into an unsupported claim that the truck can traverse every surface.
The stock motor is a 25-turn 380-size brushed unit operated by the supplied 25A combined ESC/receiver. The supported package is 2S, and the included pack is the relevant starting point. Do not transfer a 3S recommendation from a different Losi, assume a larger LMT's motor specifications apply or interpret the truck's name as a shared electrical limit. This review supplies no speed estimate, battery-specific runtime or measured comparison against the Grave Digger body variant.
Aluminum chassis plates, metal driveline yokes and full ball bearings are documented equipment. They establish what is fitted, not how many crashes an owner can expect it to survive. Keep the stock gearing and power arrangement while establishing a baseline. If movement becomes strained or abnormal, stop and use the exact troubleshooting instructions. Applying more throttle to a trapped wheel tells you little about whether a motor, connector or mechanical obstruction is responsible for the resistance.

Use the learning controls before chasing freestyle moves
The SLT2 includes steering trim, steering rate, steering reversing and a 50/75/100 percent throttle-limit switch. That gives a beginner a documented way to start with a reduced command range. It does not provide automatic braking distance, collision avoidance or a guarantee that every indoor space is suitable. Choose the lower learning setting as the manual permits, check direction and neutral behavior using its prescribed precautions, and begin with broad turns on a clear course.
Losi also describes a freestyle throttle profile with immediate brake and reverse behavior. Treat it as a distinct operating choice, not a compulsory first modification. Read the exact controller instructions before changing a jumper and understand the resulting behavior before driving. We are not reproducing a generic jumper sequence or claiming that instant reverse makes a particular stunt safe. The stock radio and electronics must first behave predictably in the configuration you actually intend to use.
Set up away from other people and loose objects. Follow the model's control-check and vehicle-securing instructions, and stop if the wheels or steering move unexpectedly. Work through one change at a time so that a correction has an understandable cause. Our recommendation is to learn steering, throttle release and recovery before creating a show course. That is an editorial learning sequence, not a report of sessions we conducted with this truck.

Adjustable hardware is useful after a baseline exists
The four-link solid-axle suspension, aluminum links, sway bars and threaded oil-filled shocks distinguish this from an independent-suspension stadium truck. The manufacturer describes tapered links and adjustable shock hardware. Those features give the platform a defined mechanical character and service route, but we cannot score its actual landing composure or cornering grip without a test. A list of metal parts is not a substitute for observing an individual truck on its intended course.
The SX108 steering servo is paired with a servo saver. The saver helps manage sudden steering loads as part of the documented system; it does not promise immunity from damage or establish a measured steering-torque result in this review. Check that steering travel is free and that the tires are not caught against an obstacle. Avoid using the steering wheel as a way to force a wedged truck out of a position where it should simply be recovered.
Begin with the factory arrangement before altering shock position, preload or other hardware. Record a specific behavior you want to change and use the applicable tuning guidance. Changing several settings while also changing the obstacle course makes any result hard to interpret. The goal is to understand the truck you have, rather than copy a setup list from a different body, larger LMT or heavily modified video vehicle. None of those examples establishes an ideal universal setup for LOS01026T3.

Small monster trucks still need proportionate obstacles
A dry, clear patch of compacted dirt or smooth pavement is the sensible first venue. Low-consequence obstacles can be added after the driver understands the controls and has room to recover the vehicle. The BKT-pattern tires are officially licensed and use a monster-truck tread design. That is not evidence that thick grass, deep loose stones or every improvised ramp is appropriate simply because a full-size Monster Jam truck appears in the branding.
Keep jumps out of the initial buying justification. Losi's action photographs show manufacturer demonstrations; our gallery explicitly credits them. They do not supply a safe height, repeatable landing load or guarantee about how a different driver will land. Build a course with a clear run-out and remove hard edges and fragile objects. If the only available area is a narrow furnished room, a lower micro vehicle or slow crawler may solve the space problem more comfortably.
Water resistance also has conditions. The exact manual distinguishes water-resistant operation from complete waterproofing and describes extra wet-use maintenance, battery compatibility checks and limits for the radio equipment. Start dry and use that document if later considering another environment. We do not recommend immersion, saltwater, a generic cleaning spray or a battery workaround. Keeping the first course simple helps separate normal learning from avoidable contamination and makes post-run inspection a manageable part of ownership.

Megalodon is a genuine body choice, not a new motor class
The injection-molded shark body with rubber fins is the particular reason to choose this variant. Its jaws, eyes and tail create a very different appearance from the van-like Grave Digger shell. Losi documents those materials, but we have not established a comparative impact advantage. Do not turn the word “rubber” into a claim that the fins cannot tear, or assume the molded body makes repeated hard landings consequence-free.
The twist-lock composite cage is fully removable, which helps provide access for the battery and ordinary inspection. The elastomer battery retention is part of the supplied layout. Use the actual access instructions, secure the battery properly and check that wiring is clear when refitting the cage. The cage, body and driver details form a scale presentation around the chassis; a manufacturer studio photograph is not evidence that we dismantled one or timed a battery change.
This is also where comparisons with the Mini LMT Grave Digger need restraint. Both belong to the compact solid-axle Mini LMT family, and the body preference may settle the purchase. We have not invented a separate power advantage for Megalodon to make that choice sound more technical. Choose the exact truck you want, verify the package and availability, and use the full reviews to identify genuine hardware differences rather than infer them from the shape of the shell.

Separate the listed reference from current stock
Losi lists USD249.99 for exact LOS01026T3 when checked on 22 October 2026, while the same page marks the product unavailable. We preserve that manufacturer reference with its date and status. It is not a live Amazon offer, a guaranteed orderable price or proof of a specific lifecycle decision. Greg Vogel's older launch coverage used a different historical price; that figure has not been repackaged as today's discount or current selling price.
The practical first-drive basket is the truck package plus a compatible USB input source if you do not already own one. The supplied transmitter cells, drive battery and charger should not be charged again as missing equipment in a comparison. Conversely, do not call a random USB supply free or compatible without checking it. We have not costed a current matched source-and-vehicle bundle, so an invented all-in dollar figure would be less useful than this explicit inventory.
Ownership includes cleaning, checking hardware, inspecting the drivetrain and following the model's maintenance instructions. Wet use adds work and rough impacts can create repair needs; there is no measured repair budget or reliability rate available here. Start with the complete stock package and a suitable course before ordering optional tuning equipment. The value case depends on enjoying the monster-truck format and this body, not on pretending that every possible future modification is required to make the original truck usable.

Change the body, scale or activity deliberately
The Mini LMT Grave Digger LOS01026T1 in our archive is the closest complete-vehicle comparison. It makes sense when the compact solid-axle monster format is right but the green Grave Digger is the body you actually want. Read its exact package record and compare current terms separately. A shared family does not justify borrowing another variant's seller availability, review stars, price or physical test results. Body preference is a legitimate decision when it is labeled honestly.
The Team Associated Rival MT10 V2, 20518, is a larger 1/10 four-wheel-drive brushless alternative covered in a full review. It asks a different question about space, terrain and required power equipment. Consider it when the intended venue is beyond a compact monster truck's brief, rather than treating it as a direct same-size performance rival. We have not driven the two side by side or measured a durability advantage for either.
For a tight indoor obstacle course where slow placement matters more than freestyle, the original Axial SCX24 Power Wagon AXI00007T2 is another complete package in the archive. It changes the driving activity rather than improving the Megalodon at its own job. Establish whether you want crawling, a compact monster show or a larger outdoor basher, then compare the complete startup baskets. That route is more useful than ranking every small RC truck solely by its body or motor label.

A coherent compact package for the right fan
Shortlist the Mini LMT Megalodon when you specifically want its shark body, a genuine solid-axle monster chassis and a supplied radio-and-power system. The throttle limit, accessible cage and documented equipment make it easier to plan a first setup without selecting every electrical component separately. Give it a clear, dry course and learn the stock controls. Its strongest buying case is the complete compact monster experience, not an unverified claim about spectacular stunts.
Skip or postpone the purchase if the exact package cannot be sourced clearly, the venue is mostly thick lawn or the intention is unsupervised young-child operation. The unavailable manufacturer listing deserves a current seller check; the manual's age guidance and LiPo instructions deserve reading. A shark shape does not remove the responsibilities of a hobby vehicle. Nor does it turn a small truck into the full-size Monster Jam machine represented by the license.
Our five equally weighted category scores assess the supplied package, learning controls, documented monster hardware, body/access arrangement and complete-start value. They are original research-led judgments for the stated buyer. They are not customer stars, measured handling, crash testing or ownership statistics. The affiliate button retains an exact historically recorded complete-product identity with its original date; no new Amazon verification, stock or price is asserted. Decide on the venue and the actual available package before deciding on the first jump.
